Final Course Reflection

Obviously my all time favorite part of this coarse was the video game and E sports category of this class, i absolutely love how big this industry has grown in such a short time and cant wait to be apart of it myself making the things I’ve played my whole life. I think going more in depth with policy and learning what law makers have tried to do to the industry and what they are trying to do now is very interesting. Learning more about net neutrality and how it works / how it will affect us was interesting, though i knew all about this it still is nice to be reminded just how infuriating higher up officials can be with these laws. Both policy and social issues are here are so important for my work soon and i’m interested to see where all these things are gonna go. I did learn a lot of stuff that i did not know in this industry though like how the loot box dilemma truly started as well as the gamer gate fiasco as well.

I loved the lectures on the history of gaming and what started it all. It is always so much fun to just look back at all the history that started it all and where we are today, its such a drastic evolution in hardware. learning more and more about the VR area was also super fun as i didn’t know some of the content there either. i wish this area of the lectures could have been longer but i understand that we have a time limit on how much time can be put to one thing.

For our project i think i particularly enjoyed what we did, granted i wanted to do something more tech’y with gaming but our wonder sleep product was not to shabby. The team did an ok job though they were all very last minute, everything came together and they all upheld their end of the bargain. I think these team based projects turned out pretty good and it wasn’t to bad working with others. The wonder sleep was definitely a interesting topic to take as mattresses today are not actually that much involved with technology, barring a few exceptions. All and all out product was pretty unique and i am happy with how our product was represented.

In the end i think this class was a lot of fun and i’m glad my roommate Stanley recommended this class for my upper division class, it was a lot of fun and i learned a lot in here. I think the overall teachings in this class were not crazy hard and the lectures were very fun. The quiz’s were never difficult which i found surprising as well. Glad to have been in this class.
